What is the power supply design of a car panoramic surround view camera system? Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), the world's leading supplier of semiconductor solutions, today announced the launch of a new highly integrated power management IC (PMIC) - ISL78083, which can simplify the Power supply design for a high-definition camera module to shorten the development cycle, reduce BOM costs and supply chain risks. The automotive camera PMIC can support power supplies directly from the battery (36-42V) or coaxially (15-18V) and supports output currents up to 750mA per output; this power level is unmatched by existing image sensors (up to 7 megapixels) and provide ample space for future higher-resolution sensors.

Niall Lyne, senior director of the Automotive Business Unit at Renesas Electronics, said: “The new ISL78083 PMIC expands Renesas’ support for in-car panoramic surround view camera systems, not only improving the image processing capabilities of the R-Car SoC, but also extending its application to high-definition satellite cameras. design. Cameras using the ISL78083 can be smaller, making them easier to install on vehicles and provide panoramic views without compromising vehicle design or aerodynamics."

The ISL78083 automotive camera PMIC features a feature-rich 4-channel including a main high-voltage synchronous buck regulator, two auxiliary low-voltage synchronous buck regulators, and a low dropout (LDO) voltage regulator. With integrated feedback and integrated compensation, only output inductors and capacitors are needed to complete an efficient power supply configuration. The ISL78083 minimizes BOM cost, requiring 7-10 fewer external components than competing solutions. The ISL78083 also features four overvoltage (OV) and four undervoltage (UV) monitors, as well as three power good status indicators and reset output/fault indicators, providing a backup reference for the OV/UV monitors.

Key features of the ISL78083 automotive camera PMIC:

l4V-42V input voltage, supports coaxial power supply or direct power supply from 12V battery power supply

lThree buck regulators provide a programmable output range of 1V-5.05V, and the LDO supports 2.8V-3.4V

l2.2MHz switching frequency to avoid AM band interference and reduce the required output capacitance and inductance

l Optional spread spectrum function to deal with EMC/EMI interference

l Wettable flank packaging can improve the reliability of solder connections and enable optical inspection of solder joints to reduce costs.

lComplies with AEC-Q100 Grade-1 specifications, applicable operating environment temperature is -40℃ to + 125℃, junction temperature is -40℃ to + 150℃

Supply information

Volume production of the automotive camera PMIC ISL78083 in a 4mm x 4mm 24-pin SCQFN wettable flank package is now available. The above is the power supply design analysis of the vehicle panoramic surround view camera system. I hope it can be helpful to everyone.
