R1 and C2 together provide a wide range of pulse widths from the Motorola MC851P mono line. The rise and fall times of the supplementary output pulses are greater than 100μs. As long as four conversion capacitors are used in conjunction with R1, the pulse width can vary within the maximum range of 4.5ms and the minimum range of 4.5μs.
