The AD780 is an ultra-precision voltage reference with excellent output stability over all temperature, load, and line conditions. Integrated devices such as the AD8210 simplify high-side current monitoring by providing a high-voltage interface and bidirectional current monitoring across the shunt resistor. It features high common-mode rejection (CMR) and excellent temperature performance for optimal accuracy in applications. The device amplifies the current flowing through the shunt resistor to the load and provides an output voltage referenced to ground that is proportional to the load current.

In applications using dual supplies, the output of the AD8210 can drive a precision, low-distortion difference amplifier such as the AD8274, as shown in the figure below. The AD8274 provides additional gain and level translation of the AD8210 output centered around the desired output common-mode voltage, which facilitates interfacing with other circuit components using dual supplies. The AD780 precision reference provides a 2.5 V reference voltage that enables the AD8210 to perform bidirectional current monitoring and also provides the reference voltage for the level-shifting functions of the AD8274.
