China Motor System Energy Saving Project Officially Launched The China Motor System Energy Saving Project Kick-off Conference was held at Nanjing International Conference Center on December 12, 2001. The conference was attended by representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE), the U.S. Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and officials from China's National Development and Planning Commission, the State Administration of Technical Quality Supervision, China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation, Jiangsu Province, and Shanghai Energy Conservation Service Center. On January 11, 2002, Shanghai Energy Conservation Service Center held a Shanghai regional project kick-off meeting in accordance with the spirit of the Nanjing meeting. At the meeting, Chen Zhenqian from the Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Division of Shanghai Economic Commission issued letters of appointment to the six members of the Shanghai Regional Advisory Committee of China Motor System Energy Conservation Project who attended the meeting. At the same time, it was announced that a motor system energy conservation project expert group consisting of 10 experts from the chemical, metallurgical, electromechanical, power plant, water supply and other industries would be established.
