2. Installation and use of valve-regulated sealed batteries  

  (1) When the battery is in floating charge state, it is also in long-term operation state. Its purpose is to keep the battery in a fully charged state at all times, but not overcharged. When the valve-regulated sealed battery is in normal operation, the safety valve should not be opened and acid mist should not escape.  

  (2) The grid alloy and electrolyte density of the valve-regulated sealed battery are different from those of the acid-proof explosion-proof battery, so its floating charge voltage is generally higher than that of the acid-proof explosion-proof battery. In order to keep the density gradient of the electrolyte small, the acid-proof explosion-proof battery needs to be regularly balanced charged, so the two currents cannot be operated in parallel.  

  (3) In order to make the electrolyte adsorbed in the diaphragm more evenly from top to bottom during operation of the valve-regulated sealed battery, the plates should be placed according to their geometric shapes during installation, with long plates being placed horizontally and short plates being placed vertically.  

  (4) AGM valve-regulated sealed batteries use ultra-fine glass fibers with a high liquid absorption rate as separators. In order to shorten the distance between the positive and negative plates of oxygen ions, they are all tightly assembled. Therefore, the heat released by the sealed battery during operation should not be lost. The heat dissipation of the battery should be fully considered during installation, layout and operation. In order to keep the battery in a fully charged state and extend the battery life, the rectifier equipment should adjust the battery's floating charge voltage in real time according to temperature changes.  

  (5) Valve-regulated sealed batteries are basically unrepairable, but it is possible to open the valve and fill it with distilled water when necessary.    

(6) Large-capacity batteries exceeding 1000Ah are generally composed of several single cells connected in parallel. Some are internally connected in parallel, while others are externally connected in parallel. From the perspective of operation and maintenance, external parallel connection is preferred.  

  (7) Since acid-proof and explosion-proof batteries have many advantages, they can still be considered for use if there is a battery room.  

  (8) The operating status and ready-to-run status of the UPS backup battery and the generator set’s starting battery should be included in centralized monitoring and management for tracking and monitoring.
