Can OV5640 directly output grayscale images? [Copy link]

1. I have a 0v5640 and need to process grayscale images. It is troublesome to convert RGB. I can use YUV and directly treat the Y signal as a grayscale signal. However, I saw the manual said Y8 mode. I wonder if you know what Y8 mode is. Thanks.

I will answer this myself: You can set the camera to output in YUV format, and take the Y value alone as the grayscale value. Or you can convert RGB approximately according to the formula.

There is not much information, but it is really easy to use. It depends on the needs. For general purposes, 7XX is enough.
