Technical guidance: Correct usage of Keep-Out and Mechanical 1 for the new AD17 and AD18! [Copy link]

After the AD software was upgraded to AD17 and AD18, some customers still used the Keep-Out layer to draw the shape or mechanical holes (strip slots) with the software drawing board. When it is opened in DXP10 and AD14, it will be directly displayed as "Keep-Out" option, and the software will automatically prohibit the lines you draw, which will cause holes and slots to be missed. In fact, it is not standard to use the keep out layer to make borders and holes. Keepout should be used to assist in prohibiting copper cladding, prohibiting routing, and setting rules. It is recommended to draw the board frame or screw hole shape on Mechanical 1. There is also a little trick. The lines on the Keep-Out layer cannot be directly copied to the Mechanical 1 layer. If you directly copy it, the default is still checked. You must draw it on the Mechanical 1 layer. Of course, if you don’t want to change the file and think that the workload is too much, and insist on drawing the board frame and screw holes on the Keep-Out layer, please be sure to generate the GERBER file yourself.
