How to Read a Circuit Schematic [Copy link]

The schematic diagram directly reflects the structure and working principle of the electronic circuit. How to read and follow the schematic diagram is a basic skill for electrical engineers. Here are five basic steps to read the schematic diagram. Step 1: Read the schematic diagram as a whole as you would read a text file. With a few exceptions, most schematic diagrams should be read from left to right and from top to bottom. The flow of current or the signal used in the circuit generally flows in this direction. It is easy to understand the schematic diagram below by reading it in this way.
Step 2: Associate the standardized symbols of basic components on the schematic diagram with real-world components and devices. Understand the basic parameters of the resistors, capacitors, inductors, switches, power supplies (DC, AC or battery), diodes, transistors, integrated circuits IC, MCU, others (crystals, connectors, motors, transformers, speakers and relays), fuses and PTCs in the schematic, and infer their uses in the circuit schematic. Understand the role of each grounding point in the circuit. Step 3: Find the actual parameters and performance descriptions of all components corresponding to the circuit schematic based on the bill of materials. In particular, refer to the user manual of the MCU used in the circuit schematic to clarify the purpose of each pin in the circuit. Step 4: Evaluate the working principle of the circuit. Based on the schematic, determine what functions the relevant parts of the circuit are used to perform. This will help you determine the performance function of the entire circuit. Step 5: Divide the circuit schematic into modules according to their functions. This will not only facilitate the location of damaged components corresponding to different equipment faults, but also serve as a reference for future related development.
