Power management must save energy and reduce consumption

The issue of standby power consumption has become a hot topic of concern to the international community. Reducing the standby power consumption of household appliances not only means saving electricity expenses for consumers, but also has a positive effect on alleviating the increasingly tense energy pressure. More directly, it reduces energy waste and environmental pressure. The 2006 Fifth China International Power Industry Exhibition and the 2006 China Beijing International Power Saving Technology and Equipment Exhibition, jointly sponsored by the Power Supply Professional Committee of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce and the Beijing Power Supply Industry Association, were held in Beijing a few days ago.NEWSZW_HZH_BEGIN NEWSZW_HZH_ENDAccording to the characteristics of household appliances, exploring power management technologies to reduce standby power consumption of household appliances and providing practical solutions will be opportunities and challenges for related industries around the world. Market and policy dual drive Improving power efficiency and reducing standby power consumption have become the key issues for energy conservation and response in the world. As an inevitable path to the energy crisis, many countries are enforcing high-efficiency energy-saving standards on terminal electronic products, such as the United States' "Energy Star", Germany's "Blue Angel" and relevant EU standards. According to statistics from international authoritative organizations, standby energy consumption has accounted for 3% to 13% of civilian electricity consumption, accounting for about 2% of total power generation. There are a large number of household appliances in my country, and the total standby energy consumption is huge. According to a survey conducted by the China Energy Conservation Certification Center on the standby energy consumption and energy-saving potential of household appliances in my country, the standby energy consumption of audio-visual products such as televisions and stereos accounts for 68.6% of the total standby energy consumption. The standby energy consumption of televisions accounts for the largest proportion of household standby energy consumption, with an average standby power of 8.07W. Therefore, reducing standby energy consumption not only means that consumers save electricity expenses, but also directly reduces energy waste and environmental pressure. The International Energy Agency is an active advocate and promoter of reducing standby energy consumption. In 2000, it launched the "1W Plan" to reduce the standby energy consumption of all products to below 1W by 2010. Developed countries such as Europe, the United States, Japan, and Australia have actively responded to this plan and strengthened the technical requirements for reducing standby energy consumption. Many countries have successively formulated product standby energy consumption standards and set standby energy consumption indicators. The EU has also worked with some large audio-visual products, computers, mobile phones, Printer manufacturers signed an agreement, pledging to reduce standby energy consumption year by year, and to reduce the standby energy consumption of most devices to 1W by 2009; Japan pledged to reduce the standby energy consumption of all products to below 1W by 2007; the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy also launched the Energy Star program at the same time. The formulation and implementation of these standby energy consumption indicators have effectively promoted the development of standby energy consumption reduction technology and saved energy. my country's home appliance design has not paid much attention to energy conservation, and the standby energy consumption remains high, far exceeding the 3W energy consumption standard of Western energy-saving TV sets. Due to the high standby energy consumption, my country's home appliance exports have suffered huge economic losses. Relevant data show that in 2002, 71% of my country's export enterprises encountered restrictions from foreign technical trade barriers, and 39% of export products were affected, with losses of 17 billion US dollars. Experts point out that standby energy consumption may become the next non-trade barrier. In response to the high standby energy consumption of China's home appliances, the China Energy Conservation Product Certification and Management Committee issued and began to implement the first energy-saving certification regulations for home appliances on February 1, 2002, and also limited the standby energy consumption standard of my country's TV sets to within 3W. The China Standard Certification and Accreditation Center also issued and began to implement the details of the certification implementation of TV sets on September 1, 2004, which has since opened the prelude to energy conservation of China's home appliance products. The survival space of products that do not meet energy-saving standards is shrinking. Manufacturers compare standby power consumption The three words "power saving king" have frequently appeared in the global power supply industry in recent times. In the product introduction of semiconductor product supplier ON Semiconductor, "power saving" has been positioned as a target application in their product development strategy. Especially in the field of digital consumption and white appliances, the company's products play a pivotal role in helping to reduce product power consumption. At the 11th IIC Shenzhen Exhibition held at the beginning of the year, ON Semiconductor launched a green reference design for CRT TV power supply, which can provide standby power consumption of less than 1 watt. Recently, a power control circuit chip technology that can achieve "zero power consumption and safe standby" has begun to attract widespread attention. Zero power consumption and safe standby is the ultimate goal that people pursue. According to Dr. Zhou Xianpu, general manager of Baotou Shuguang Technology Co., Ltd., which developed this technology, the ideal zero power consumption and safe standby technology should have the following properties: first, the macro AC standby current is zero, and second, the standby power supply cannot be replaced within the safe use period of the equipment. In addition, the AC power supply of the standby appliance is physically cut off and can be restarted in the original way without changing the existing operating mode. In common sense, the current of a circuit cut off by a mechanical switch is of course zero. Of course, another key factor for zero-power standby to be recognized is that consumers do not feel the existence of the standby power supply during the entire life of the appliance. Sugon has successfully broken through all technical barriers to non-AC power standby using long-life batteries through innovative extreme low-power design, device-independent design, and extreme low-cost design. Its core is: an ultra-low-power standby power control integrated circuit that can support long-term standby with a long-life, small-capacity battery. On March 1 this year, the state issued a standard that prohibits products with standby power consumption exceeding 9W from being put on the market. According to reports, nearly 20% of the products on sale, in transit, and in stock may be difficult to handle. The "zero power consumption safety standby technology" independent of the whole machine is an effective means to solve this problem, thus completely eliminating the technical barriers of standby energy consumption of domestic products.
