This conference is the first public academic seminar on integrated circuit (IC) design and application held by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The conference was hosted by the Personnel and Education Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the High Technology Research and Development Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Management Committee of Hangzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone, and hosted by the EDA Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
At the opening ceremony, Cao Jianlin said that in recent years, with the in-depth development of the Chinese Academy of Sciences' knowledge innovation project, the various institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have made some progress and achievements in the field of IC, such as the "Loongson" series CPU and the "Tongxin" DSP, etc. However, these scientific research results are still quite far from market demand and productization and industrialization. The Chinese Academy of Sciences hopes to take this opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the IC industry, especially the industry and education sectors, and jointly promote the industrial development and technological progress in the field of integrated circuit design and application in China.
According to reports, in recent years, more than a dozen institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have begun to enter the field of chip design, and more and more institutes will join this ranks in the future. To this end, the Chinese Academy of Sciences has established the Chinese Academy of Sciences EDA Center as a public support platform for electronic systems and chip design for the entire academy. It is also expected to become a platform for cross-disciplinary innovation, as well as a window and service platform for the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the integrated circuit industry to carry out all-round cooperation.
