Intel invests $600 million in Clearwire, optimistic about WiMAX technology

The three companies will provide research and development resources to develop NextNet Wireless's pre-WiMAX technology. Founded by Craig McCaw, Clearwire is a provider of wireless high-speed Internet services based on WiMAX. Clearwire has launched wireless high-speed Internet services in 27 metropolitan markets, covering more than 200 towns.
