Dow-Key Microwave, a subsidiary of Dove Microwave Products Group, recently released a compact SPDT PCB surface mount switch. The new 409 series can be directly mounted on the circuit board, which is very suitable for military, automatic detection equipment (ATE) and commercial applications, which require higher power consumption and greater impedance under strict environmental conditions than the general PCB surface mount switch can provide. It uses a compact package with only 310 mm2 printed circuit board area to meet the requirements of high-density surface mount."Industry-wide, we are seeing a trend toward smaller devices," said Krzysztof Ciezarek, vice president of engineering and high reliability products at Dow-Key. "The new 409 switch meets this trend while maintaining superior performance." As a high-quality choice of solid-state devices, the rugged 409 operates in the frequency range of DC to 3.0 GHz. The switch is also suitable for high shock and vibration resistance, which is a result of the rigorous conditions associated with various military applications. The switch features laser-welded vacuum sealing, which functions well in all climates. The operating temperature range is from -30°C to +70°C. The switch is manufactured from aluminum and electroless nickel through holes with kovar gold plating and weighs up to 1 ounce (29 grams). The 409 switch is available in a SPDT latching design with a life of at least one million cycles. [;)]
