The Ministry of Information Industry recently released a report on the fixed asset investment of the electronic information industry from January to June 2006. From the fixed asset investment from January to June, the number of newly started projects in the electronic information industry this year reached 1,269, an increase of 295 over the same period last year, a year-on-year increase of 30.1%; the planned investment in the newly started projects this year reached 103.88 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 44.9%, an increase of 38.4 percentage points over the same period last year.

Among them, nearly half of the newly started projects are concentrated in the field of electronic components, with 436 newly started projects in electronic components, accounting for 34.4% of the total number of newly started projects in the industry; 176 newly started projects in the electronic device industry, an increase of 51 over the same period last year. It is worth mentioning that electronic components have not only become a relatively concentrated investment hotspot, but also maintained a relatively high profit margin.
