This paper introduces the characteristics, structure and application of the 16-bit Σ-Δ A/D converter AD7705, and gives examples of the general interface between this serial input/output A/D converter and the microcontroller. It points out the key to programming the AD7705 on-chip register by the microcontroller, and gives the C51 interface reading and writing procedures that are not in the data sheet.
