Purpose and characteristics of PCB electrogalvanizing

The purpose of PCB electrogalvanizing is to prevent steel objects from being corroded, improve the corrosion resistance and service life of steel, and also increase the decorative appearance of the product. As time goes by, steel will be weathered, corroded by water or soil. Every year, the amount of steel corroded in China accounts for almost one-tenth of the total amount of steel. Therefore, in order to protect the service life of steel or its parts, PCB electrogalvanizing is generally used to process steel. Since zinc is not easy to change in dry air, and can produce a basic zinc carbonate film in a humid environment, this film can protect the internal parts from being corroded and damaged. Even if the zinc layer is damaged by some factors, zinc and steel will form a micro battery after a period of time, and the steel matrix will become the cathode and be protected. Zinc is a metal with a bluish-white luster. Its atomic number is 30, its relative atomic mass is 65.4, it is brittle and hard, its melting point is 419.4℃, its boiling point is 907℃, its valence is +2, and its relative density is 7.1. Zinc is stable in dry air. Zinc is an amphoteric metal, and it will react with acids and alkalis to release hydrogen. It also reacts with hydrogen sulfide. In water or humid air, a layer of basic zinc carbonate film will be formed, which can protect the bottom layer from corrosion. Zinc plating on iron is an anodic coating because of its negative potential, which has good electrochemical protection. Therefore, zinc plating (plus chromate passivation after plating) is widely used to prevent ferrous metals from rusting. It is widely used in electroplating electrical parts, mechanical hardware, construction hardware and defense industry. Zinc is mainly used in electroplating, hot dip plating, battery industry and alloy manufacturing (such as brass) in industry. In summary, PCB electroplating zinc has the following characteristics: 1. Good corrosion resistance, fine and uniform combination, and it is not easy for corrosive gases or liquids to enter the interior. 2. Because the new layer is relatively pure, it is not easy to be corroded in either acid or alkaline environment. Effectively protect the steel body for a long time. 3. After chromic acid passivation, it can be used in various colors, which can be selected according to customer preferences. The galvanized coating is beautiful and decorative. 4. The zinc coating has good ductility and will not fall off easily during various bending, handling and collision.
