Qualcomm recently announced that it has signed a strategic agreement with Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), one of the world's leading chip foundries. This strategic agreement with SMIC will enable Qualcomm to fully leverage the foundry's leading operational management experience in mixed-signal technology manufacturing and supply chain management to better serve our customers in China and around the world. SMIC will use specialized BiCMOS process technology to provide integrated circuit production services for Qualcomm in its Tianjin plant. This agreement marks the success of SMIC's unremitting efforts to provide high-end customers with 'turnkey' complete solutions. This cooperation will combine SMIC's chip manufacturing capabilities and subcontracting capabilities with Qualcomm's leadership in the 3G wireless industry, with a focus on power management chips.
