ON Semiconductor Launches New Protection and Filter Devices[Copy link]
ON Semiconductor has introduced five new MicroIntegration circuits designed to protect sensitive components in portable and computer applications from damaging and destructive current transients during high-speed data transmission. The
new devices target applications such as digital cameras and other portable consumer electronic devices, set-top boxes, and high-speed data interfaces in personal computers, including digital video interface (DVI), VGA, Ethernet and universal serial bus (USB) interfaces.
Four of the new devices are filters designed for USB, Ethernet, firewall and other high-speed data applications. These devices meet all USB requirements, including electromagnetic interference (EMI) filtering and line termination for upstream/downstream ports. These new integrated components can replace the current discrete component solutions that require 12 components. The other eight new devices provide electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection with low capacitance. These new protection devices pass the 15 kilovolt (kV) contact discharge test - the test standard is higher than the 8 kV ESD standard of IEC61000. These devices have a typical capacitance of 1.5 pF, which can ensure data line speed and data integrity. ON Semiconductor has introduced a family of high-speed data line protection and filtering devices that feature the industry's lowest capacitance.
