Increase performance in imaging applications by integrating DSP functions in FPGAs [Copy link]

This article describes the development of an embedded system for a small, high-performance, ultra-low-cost camera. Initially, a digital signal processor, several ASSPs, and external memory were used. To increase performance, a configurable soft-core processor implemented in programmable logic was required. The description in this article achieves the required performance, integrating discrete components and DSP functions on a single FPGA, reducing power consumption by nearly 80% and shortening development time and cost.
