Wind River Systems recently announced that it will acquire Interpeak AB for $20 million in cash and stock. Interpeak AB is a leading provider of network, security and mobile middleware software that enables a new generation of devices to connect to the Internet securely. The acquisition will inject high-quality secure network technology into Wind River Systems, further expand its device software platform footprint, and strengthen its ability to provide device manufacturers with higher platform scalability, security and key certification support.
Ken Klein, chairman, president and CEO of Wind River, believes that after Wind River acquires Interpeak AB, the two companies will fully share technical and management strengths. Wind River said that the acquisition will not change the company's first quarter plan released on March 8. Wind River's last fiscal year ended in January this year.
