China has also done a lot of work in this regard and has shown a good development momentum. China has done a lot of work in the development of ultra-high brightness LED industry. 2003 is a year of great significance for the development of ultra-high brightness LEDs, showing the following characteristics.
High degree of attention and strong support   Last year, relevant state ministries and some local governments had a relatively unified understanding of the development of the LED industry, and were formulating relevant development plans and policies. First, the Ministry of Science and Technology took the lead in establishing the "National Semiconductor Lighting Project Leading Group" in June 2003 with relevant state ministries and commissions to specifically guide the development of the national LED industry. Fourth, more than a dozen provincial and municipal governments across the country attach great importance to the development of the LED lighting industry, and have formulated LED industry development plans respectively, increasing investment and support for the LED industry in their regions. has increased . First, in terms of national investment, in the research and development of ultra-high brightness LEDs, through the 863 plan in the past few years, many research institutions (universities) have received financial support, carried out many substantive research projects, and achieved gratifying results. From 2003 to 2004, the Ministry of Science and Technology allocated part of the innovation fund to focus on supporting some research institutions and enterprises to develop ultra-high brightness LEDs. The Ministry of Information Industry also supports key research institutions and enterprises in the form of development funds to develop the ultra-high brightness LED industry. The Ministry of Education also has some research funds to support LED research projects in some universities. The development plan formulated by the National Development and Reform Commission will also have greater support. Local governments have invested a lot of money in various forms to develop the local ultra-high brightness LED industry. Secondly, the investment of enterprises and institutions. Last year, enterprises and institutions first made a large investment in talents. Many research institutions (universities) and powerful enterprises introduced a number of doctoral, master's and undergraduate graduates in optoelectronics to increase the research and development team. Secondly, there is also a large investment in funds. In order to deepen and expand the research of related topics, many research institutions (universities) have invested a lot of money to purchase new MOCVD epitaxial equipment, such as the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanchang University, Xiamen University and other institutions. Many powerful front-end process enterprises are increasing their investment and purchasing new equipment. For example, Xiamen Sanan, Shenzhen Fangda, Jiangxi Lianchuang, Shanghai Beida Blueray and other units are purchasing new MOCVD epitaxial equipment and chip manufacturing equipment to strengthen research and development efforts and expand the scale of industrialization. In the back-end process, units such as Xiamen Hualian, Foshan Guoxing, Jiangxi Lianchuang and other units have increased their investment and purchased a complete set of fully automatic packaging equipment, SMD equipment and power LED packaging equipment, and continuously expanded the scale of production. In addition, in the past two years, many companies have invested in the LED industry or established new LED companies, and more companies have invested in back-end packaging. The above investment will undoubtedly accelerate the industrialization process of ultra-high brightness LEDs. In recent years, many companies have combined production, learning and research with research institutions (universities) to expand the industrialization of research results. According to the current development of ultra-high brightness LED, many enterprises are looking for more partners to make their enterprises bigger and stronger. This is the current development trend. In 2003, Dalian Luming cooperated with AXT Company of the United States to form Dalian Lumei Company, and Xiamen Sanan cooperated with an American company to establish Xiamen Anmei Company. The successful cooperation of these enterprises will undoubtedly help to expand investment, strengthen product research and development, expand production scale, and improve the level of industrialization.
The application of ultra-high brightness LED continues to expand .   One of the characteristics of the development of ultra-high brightness LED in 2003 is that the demand for this series of products continues to increase, and the application of this product is also expanding, which lays a solid foundation for promoting the development of ultra-high brightness LED industry. According to preliminary understanding, there are more than 200 domestic application development and production units of ultra-high brightness LED and special lighting, and many enterprises that originally produced ordinary lighting products have also invested in the application development and production of LED lighting. In addition to the familiar applications of ultra-high brightness LEDs, many new application areas have emerged in recent years, such as large, medium and small screen display devices with full-color screens, backlight sources with various color changes, lighting and display devices inside and outside cars, special lighting lamps for traffic signal indications such as aviation, navigation, and railways, low-voltage safety lamps (mining lamps), outdoor landscape lighting and indoor decorative lighting LED lamps, various special LED lighting lamps with different lamp structures, and LED white light lighting applications, etc. Due to the application and promotion of these new fields, the demand for ultra-high brightness LEDs has continued to increase, laying a solid foundation for promoting the development of the ultra-high brightness LED industry. With the continuous expansion of the application of ultra-high brightness and white light LEDs, as well as further breakthroughs in technology and the continuous decline in production costs, the process of LED realizing general lighting will be further promoted.
