The MC79076 circuit is a new type of automatic ignition controller launched by Motorola. In actual application, it is best to use it in conjunction with the Darlington power tube produced by Motorola. Since the MC79076 can provide closed-loop control for the Darlington power tube, the MC79076 has superior performance in controlling the ignition coil current. Compared with other ignition circuits, such an automatic ignition control application circuit has the characteristics of simple structure, accurate and reliable ignition control and relatively low cost. The current market price of MC79076 is about RMB 20.
MC79076 has two packaging forms. The MC79076 model uses a plastic SO-16 packaging form, and the other model MCCF79076 uses flip-chip technology to connect the pins to the internal chip instead of the traditional lead wire connection method. This packaging makes the MC79076 work more reliably than all current circuits within the operating temperature range. Its packaging form is shown in Figure 1. 1 Main Features The main features of MC79076 are as follows: ●Convex inverted solder joint arrangement; ●The ignition coil voltage is not higher than 375V; ●Coil current is not more than 7.5A; ● Output can be real-time (static control); ●Coil static feedback control; ●Hall sensor input; ●The operating temperature range is -30℃~+140℃.

Electronic ignition controllers have been widely used in modern automotive electronic ignition systems. Therefore, it is believed that MC79076, which has the advantages of low cost and high reliability, will undoubtedly be widely used.
