However, according to insiders of China Mobile, the specific launch date of the service is in October.
After obtaining the first IPTV license issued by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, Shanghai Media Group (SMG) became the only media organization allowed to transmit audio-visual content on mobile phones. In order to seize the market opportunity of 3G preview, China Mobile took action at the first time and cooperated with SMG in the "mobile TV" streaming media business. On May 13, the two parties jointly launched a mobile media entertainment platform.
According to insiders, Shanghai Mobile had cooperated with Oriental Dragon Mobile Information Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of SMG that specializes in mobile TV, long before signing the contract. The two parties had recruited 500 "early adopters" from Shanghai Mobile users and provided free mobile TV programs for trial viewing. China Mobile mobile phone users can watch the TV programs integrated by SMG's Oriental Dragon Mobile Information Company directly on their mobile phones through online viewing and downloading, including 6 live TV programs and 8 column on-demand programs.
In April this year, China Unicom took the lead in launching the "Video Shinkansen" mobile TV service based on the CDMA1X network nationwide. At present, China Unicom has reached an agreement with 12 TV channels.
