TI's analog current/voltage output driver XTR300 [Copy link]

On March 27, TI launched the digitally controlled current/voltage output driver XTR300, targeting industrial applications such as industrial programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial process equipment. The XTR300 provides outputs of +/-17V and +/-24mA, and can handle virtually any standard analog signaling specification. The digital portion of the voltage or current output does not require bulky discrete circuits and awkward pin connection configuration schemes.

The XTR300 internal fault detection circuit provides digital indication of line/load faults, including shorts or opens in cables or remote loads. To sense the output voltage, the device includes an instrumentation amplifier that can connect to a 4-wire load to accurately control the voltage at the remote load. The instrumentation amplifier can also be used as a general-purpose analog input.
In addition, the XTR300 can be configured for 3-wire industrial sensor applications. It does not require external output transistors. The 5x5mm QFN package allows power to be dissipated through the low thermal resistance bottom power pad. The XTR300 operates at voltages up to +/-20V and operates at temperatures from -40 degrees to 85 degrees C. The chip is manufactured using a proprietary BiCMOS process.

The XTR300 is available in a 5x5mm QFN-20 package. It is available now. The one-way price for 1K quantities is $2.45.
