XILINX and 4i2i jointly launch H.264/AVC high-spec decoder [Copy link]

Xilinx and 4i2i announced the industry's first FPGA-based H.264/AVC High Profile real-time video decoder.

Implemented using a single-chip Xilinx Virtex?-4 FPGA and intellectual property (IP) cores licensed from 4i2i, this high-specification decoder provides a highly integrated, cost-effective solution for a wide range of video-based broadcast, conferencing and surveillance products.

The high-performance capabilities of Virtex-4 devices provide an ideal platform for the highly complex algorithms required for real-time H.264 decoding.

Availability

The synthesizable core is currently available in standard-definition and high-definition versions in VHDL, Verilog, or netlist formats.
