T43 and X41 power management mode settings [Copy link]

The tool for testing temperature is: mobmeter, and the tool for testing CPU constant frequency is: RightMark CPU Clock Utility. My machine is T43 2668 44U, and the processor is PM 1.86GHz.

The full load test is to run superPI to calculate 2M bits.

T43 has four power management modes:

1) Maximum Performance
2) Maximum Battery Life
3) Timers off (Presentation)
4) Power Source Optimized

Select the first mode, the processor is at 1.86GHz, and the temperature is around 60~67 degrees without full load. After running superPI, the temperature reaches about 73 degrees. The processor remains unchanged at 1.86GHz.

Select the second mode, the processor works at 800MHz, the temperature is around 53 degrees without full load, and after running superPI, the temperature does not change much, at around 55 degrees. The processor frequency remains unchanged at 800MHz. Select the third mode,

the processor works at 800MHz, the temperature is around 55 degrees without full load, and after running superPI, the temperature does not change much, less than 60 degrees. The processor frequency remains unchanged at 800MHz.

Selecting the 4th mode, the processor works at 1.86GHz. The temperature is around 60~67 degrees when not fully loaded. After running superPI, the temperature reaches 73 degrees to 75 degrees. The processor remains unchanged at 1.86GHz.


This power management tool is used by R52, X41 and T43. The CPU will not actively reduce the frequency when not fully loaded. My friend uses R51, and the frequency is 600Mhz when not fully loaded. When the computer is running superPI, the CPU climbs to 1.6GHz.
