Why do domestic CAN transceivers have no price advantage? [Copy link]

 

The price of CAN chips has always been relatively expensive. The retail price of CAN transceivers from NXP and TI is usually more than 3 yuan.

SIT (Sinlit) is probably one of the better domestic manufacturers. Its SIT65HVD230DR is comparable to TI’s SN65HVD230DR in terms of model number. The retail price in LiChuang Mall is 2.76 yuan, which is less than 0.1 cent cheaper than TI’s SN65HVD230DR.

The cheapest CAN transceiver that can be found on Taobao is the SN65HVD230DR model. Youxin sells it for 1.85 yuan, while other stores also sell it for 1 yuan.

This chip on Taobao is said to be from TI, but compared with the pictures on LiChuang Mall, there is no TI icon on Taobao, but the two words TI are used instead. I am not sure if this is a real TI chip. I bought a few and they said they can be shipped after the holiday, so I bought a few to play with first.

Back to the topic, are there no cheaper domestic CAN transceivers? Is it so expensive because of automotive certification?
