What basic knowledge does a hardware engineer need to become an RF engineer? [Copy link]

My major is not communications, but I work in hardware design and have experience in high-speed boards. Because of the company's needs, I switched to RF, RF amplifiers, receivers, etc. I have zero experience in RF, so where should I start learning? What books should I read? Is it necessary to switch? I really need help.

If you have mastered the design of high-speed circuits, switching to RF is not difficult. It is nothing more than familiarizing yourself with RF-specific devices, circuit structures, etc. What you may need to supplement is analog circuits and electromagnetic field theory.   Details Published on 2024-7-4 15:30

I learn whatever I need for work. There is no such thing as systematic learning.

There is probably no way around this. You need to get a master's degree to be qualified for radio frequency and electromagnetic field jobs.

Wherever there is a need, go and learn. If you have experience in hardware high-speed design, it will be easier to understand RF. I wish you success.

OK, thank you very much. I recently found a few books on electromagnetic fields to read.  Details Published on 2024-7-4 16:25
