STM32MP135F-DK unboxing evaluation + virtual machine environment construction
Note: Thanks to eeworld for providing me with this opportunity to learn Linux board, which is based on Arm single cortex-A7 32-bit STM32MP135 microprocessor. In this section, I will only update the unboxing evaluation and talk about some problems I have encountered in setting up the virtual machine. Then, because I am a Linux novice and because I have downloaded several versions of vivado , my D drive is only 100G after cleaning. Because there are a lot of data and a lot of software in it, I did not split the disk. However, most of what I have seen now say that it is best to leave a separate disk (my laptop cannot be expanded). I don’t know if this has a big impact. I feel that the subsequent progress is uncertain, but since I have obtained it, I will study and study it by myself first.
1. Unboxing and Review
1. First of all, I think the design of this board is very good. Because it is a board that was sent back before, it currently has no factory settings. And I haven’t set up the development environment yet, and now I can only see the power-on situation.
2. After opening the package, you can see the board, the screen connected to it, and a camera module . The official also left a 16GB SD card .
All the hardware is as follows:
3. Then this board has four switches. You can learn how to select and the various modes in the instruction manual. Then it has two LEDs. If there is no SD card, it will be red. If it is, another LED will be used to display blue , as shown below:
That’s basically all you need to unbox it.
2. Virtual Machine Configuration
I will only talk about the blue screen problem I encountered. I originally followed the tutorial of a certain point atom and used VMware15.5 and Ubuntu18.04. However, according to the actual process, when I started the Ubuntu system, the computer directly restarted with a blue screen. Then , I tried all the methods that can be tried on the Internet. I really don’t know what the problem is. Then I read the official manual of stm and thought I should change it. Then I used VMware17 to install it, deleted 15.5, and tried it again. It turned out to be ok. I just followed the tutorial on the online post, and then the second problem occurred.
It seems that English is selected by default. It's not that English cannot be used. The problem is that the information at a certain point is in Chinese. Then I changed the settings in it, because I need to be connected to the Internet to download the Chinese package, the result is that there is no wifi configuration and the system cannot connect to the Internet. I originally planned to try the Ethernet cable, but later I found that the startup tutorial at a certain point seemed to be different. I tried it and it was indeed possible to directly select Chinese. I don’t know what this is for now.
Another problem is that the SD card cannot be read when inserted into the USB flash drive. This seems to be related to the configuration of the SD. I know there is such a thing, but I haven’t learned about it in detail. I will write it here first, and I will add to it after further research.
Oh, and there is another thing. There is indeed no m4 core in mp135. I have been reading the mp157 information before, and I found that I did not pay attention to it.
PS: The above are some of the problems I encountered when installing the virtual machine and Ubuntu. Since I am a novice, some phenomena and problems may be more abstract, so please bear with me.
