Chapter 1 Understanding the Position of Electronic Hardware Engineer
1. Required knowledge and skills for electronic hardware engineers include:
- Electronic circuit knowledge
Understand the components directly related to circuit principle design, such as capacitors, resistors, inductors, magnetic beads, transistors, operational amplifiers, microcontrollers, logic chips, etc.
- Signal impedance, PCB knowledge
Single-ended impedance, differential impedance, microstrip line, PCB material, stacking parameters, solder paste, etc.
- EMC Knowledge
Static electricity, surge, insulation withstand voltage, high and low temperature, radiation, voltage sag, conducted interference, etc.
- Structural knowledge
Sheet metal processing, lofting, metal material strength, yield strength coefficient, etc.
- Software knowledge
Basic programming languages, languages supported by embedded microcontrollers, host machine assembly, combination of software and hardware drivers, operating systems, etc.
- Rich imagination
Combine new technologies and new knowledge in life to create new technology application scenarios.
(II) The “Five Cans ” principle of electronic hardware design :
- predictable
Predictions can be made using electronic subject knowledge, expert predictions, circuit schematics, and other equivalent simulations.
- Designable
The software and electronic components used in the design work can be obtained normally in the market and meet the technical level of the personnel. The circuit design, PCB design, process design, etc. meet the industry manufacturing level.
- Verifiable
The key parameters of the PCB board can be measured after it is formed, and the key signals of the components can be measured after they are soldered.
- Reusable
Verified circuit schematics, component parameters, and PCB designs can be used as reference for subsequent designs.
- Inheritable
Distill and summarize reusable design, reliable and stable product design experience as cases for engineer training.
3. The work stages of electronic hardware engineers participating in product development :
- Design new products.
- Be able to understand the design intention and functional planning details of the product.
- Various problems with the product can be quickly located and solved.
- Enhance the work sense of accomplishment and innovative mission of electronic hardware engineers.
- The requirements for comprehensive skills are high, and electronic hardware engineers need to have certain knowledge and experience in product design technology, industry characteristics, processing technology, etc.
- The uncertainty factors in product development increase. For example, is the application of existing technology in this product design stable?
- Maintain and improve existing products.
- You can learn and draw lessons from circuit diagrams and PCB design drawings.
- The product size can be directly inherited and applied, and the product development risk is low.
- Clarify the details of the structural design and functional planning that are not clear in the junior high school.
- Engage in auxiliary design work.
- Learn and draw lessons from circuit diagrams and PCB design drawings.
- Planning>>Design>>Material preparation>>Welding and assembly>>Debugging>>Testing>>Inspection>>Production conversion
- Be able to form good work habits and ways of thinking earlier.
4. Qualities that an electronic hardware engineer should possess.
- Solid knowledge of electronic circuits and design skills.
- Understand the relevant standards for electronic appliances.
- Deepen learning in professional fields.
- Understanding of interdisciplinary knowledge and skills.
- Creativity and imagination.
- Practice and summarize frequently.
- Don't be arrogant because of your talent, and maintain humanistic pursuits.
