Detailed explanation of the surge electrostatic protection scheme for GPS interface
From the design drawing of the surge electrostatic protection scheme of the Dongwo GPS interface, it can be seen that Dongwo Electronic Technology performs surge electrostatic protection from two aspects: one is surge protection for the internally fed DC power supply, and the other is protection for the RF signal. For the first-level power supply protection, Dongwo Technology recommends the use of the semiconductor discharge tube P0080SC to absorb lightning strikes or large surge currents. The protection of the feeding part uses the unidirectional transient suppression TVS diode SMBJ6.0A and the Schottky diode B0520W, which can effectively protect the back-end LDO chip from surge impact. The secondary signal interface uses the ESD electrostatic protection diode DW05DLC-BS launched by Dongwo, with an operating voltage of 5V, a low clamping voltage of 18.3V, and a low leakage current of 1uA. According to the IEC 61000-4-2 standard, it can be used to provide ESD protection up to ±30kV (air discharge)/±30kV (contact discharge). According to IEC 61000-4-5, it can withstand a peak pulse current of 17A (8/20us), providing reliable electrostatic and surge protection for interface chips. The ESD diode DW05DLC-BS has a junction capacitance of 1PF, which can ensure the integrity of RF signal transmission.
