What is a programmable crystal oscillator? Programmable crystal oscillators are mostly active crystal oscillators, which are composed of two chips; one is an all-silicon MEMS resonator, and the other is a chip with temperature compensation function, which can start the circuit phase-locked loop CMOS. It uses standardized semiconductor chip MCM packaging. It can use fully automatic standard semiconductor manufacturing processes, such as ICs used in current electronic product design, with good stability and quality; human errors cannot occur during the production process.

Generally speaking, a programmable crystal oscillator is to provide your crystal oscillator parameters, such as frequency deviation, operating voltage, load capacitance, frequency, etc. to the crystal oscillator manufacturer. The manufacturer can program it through a computer or other equipment and write these parameters into a blank chip by pressing the OK button.

Normally, the production lead time is 1-3 days. We know that for conventional passive crystal oscillators or active crystal oscillators, the production lead time is 2-3 weeks when the wafer is in stock, the regular lead time is about 4-6 weeks, and the special period is 2-3 months.

Therefore, in terms of lead time, programmable crystal oscillators have advantages not only in terms of lead time, but also in terms of frequency. In terms of function, the problem of temperature drift is completely eliminated.
