Segment screen fault diagnosis solution [Copy link]

Hello everyone, can the segment code screen be used for fault diagnosis? For example, after a product has been sold for a period of time, some segments of the segment code screen do not display, or display abnormally, and fault diagnosis is required, and early warning information is issued to the user.
Thank you!

This does not require diagnosis. The simplest way is to improve the product quality of the screen. If the quality of the LED is good, it will not break down for decades.

Oh, so, then you need to find an LED driver chip that meets the ASIL B safety integrity standard. I just found one for you. MBI6353Q

Supports error detection-LED open circuit error detection-LED short circuit and other functions.

There is an automatic fault detection for LCD chips, right? If you do it all yourself, you can make your own detection module. If you buy a ready-made one, you really don't know.

I'll give you one more. A lot of options. With error detection.

LCD can't detect it, right? They are all high-impedance driven, the current itself is very small, there is no difference between bad and good current, right? Unless there is an external visual judgment?

There is really no way to detect this. We use visual inspection to check whether it is good or bad. When it arrives at the front line, if it is broken, there is nothing we can do but replace it with a new one.

I have never designed a segment code screen, but I guess it is similar to the principle of LED dot matrix.
