On April 10, the Shandong Provincial Energy Bureau issued a notice on soliciting new energy storage projects (first batch) for 2023. Specific requirements were put forward for the scope of solicitation. The power of lithium battery energy storage peak-shaving projects is required to be no less than 50,000 kilowatts, the continuous charging time is no less than 2 hours, and the AC side efficiency is no less than 85%. The aggregate power of distributed energy storage projects is no less than 50,000 kilowatts, and the continuous charging time is no less than 2 hours.

2. Battery-grade lithium carbonate prices hit a new low

On April 10, lithium carbonate fell by 3,000 yuan to 207,000 yuan/ton, hitting a new low in more than a year, and it has fallen for 50 consecutive days. The cumulative decline in the past five days is 31,000 yuan, and the cumulative decline in the past 30 days is 192,750 yuan; lithium hydroxide fell by 10,000 yuan to 291,500 yuan/ton, hitting a new low in more than a year, and it has fallen for 30 consecutive days. On April 8, Jiangxi Shangrao Economic Development Zone and Guangzhou Yuntong Lithium Battery Co., Ltd. signed an investment agreement, marking that Guangzhou Yuntong's investment of 500 million yuan to build an energy storage battery project with an annual output of 1 gigawatt-hour officially settled in Shangrao Economic Development Zone.

4. Xingchu Century and Haibosic signed an agreement to promote the application of sodium-ion battery energy storage systems and expand domestic and overseas markets

On April 8, Xingchu Century and Beijing Haibosichuang Technology Co., Ltd. held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony at the exhibition site. According to the agreement, the specific content of the two parties' in-depth cooperation in the development of energy storage markets at home and abroad and the application of sodium electricity was determined. 5. Total installed capacity 1.6GWh! Two cities in Hubei sign large-scale shared energy storage power station project

On April 7, the People's Government of Zhijiang City, Hubei Province and the People's Government of Yingcheng City signed investment and construction agreements with VMware Energy for a 300MW/600MWh energy storage power station project and a 1GWh energy storage power station project, respectively. It is reported that the large-scale shared energy storage power station jointly built by the People's Government of Zhijiang City, Hubei Province and Yingcheng City and VMware will integrate the decentralized energy storage resources on the power supply side, grid side and user side.

6. Dagang shares invested in a new energy technology company, the business scope of which includes energy storage technology services

The Qichacha APP shows that Zhenjiang Gangsheng Energy Technology Co., Ltd. was established, with Xu Haoran as the legal representative, and a registered capital of RMB 5 million. 7. The stator of the first unit of the largest pumped storage power station in Northeast China was successfully hoisted

At 10:08 on April 8, the stator of the first unit of the Qingyuan Pumped Storage Power Station, which was constructed by the EPC general contracting consortium led by China Power Construction Beijing Institute, fell safely and steadily into the pit and was accurately installed at the predetermined position, marking that the construction of the Qingyuan Pumped Storage Power Station has entered the installation stage of the core components of the unit. The power station is located in Beisanjia Town, Qingyuan Manchu Autonomous County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. It is the largest pumped storage power station in Northeast China, with a total installed capacity of 1.8 million kilowatts, a designed annual power generation of 300 million kilowatt-hours, and an annual pumped hydropower of 4 billion kilowatt-hours.

8. Global new energy storage installed capacity will reach 45.7GW in 2022

On April 7, the "Energy Storage Industry Research White Paper 2023" was released. By the end of 2022, the cumulative installed capacity of power storage projects in operation worldwide will be 237.2GW, with an annual growth rate of 15%. The cumulative installed capacity of pumped storage fell below 80% for the first time, down 6.8 percentage points from the same period in 2021; the cumulative installed capacity of new energy storage reached 45.7GW, nearly twice that of the same period last year, with an annual growth rate of 80%. Lithium-ion batteries still occupy an absolute dominant position, with an annual growth rate of more than 85%. Its cumulative installed capacity in new energy storage increased by 3.5 percentage points compared with the same period in 2021.

9. Hubei Huanggang: Supporting the construction of a wind, solar and storage integrated demonstration project in Longgan Lake

On April 4, the Ecological Environment Bureau of Huanggang City, Hubei Province issued a notice on soliciting public opinions on the "Huanggang City's 14th Five-Year Plan for Response to Climate Change (Draft for Comments)". The document pointed out that it is necessary to promote the wind power industry, focus on the layout of wind power projects in Wuxue, Hong'an, Huangmei and other places, and support the construction of a wind, solar and storage integrated demonstration project in Longgan Lake.

10. Tianyuan Group's lithium battery new material project with an annual output of 100,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate positive electrode materials was put into production in the first phase

The trial run was successful at one time, marking the official entry of the first phase of the project with an annual output of 25,000 tons into the trial production stage. It is reported that Tianyuan Group is making every effort to promote the construction of the second phase of the project with an annual output of 75,000 tons and a supporting project with an annual output of 100,000 tons of iron phosphate precursors, and strive to complete the construction and put them into production by the end of this year.

Ningxia's new energy storage development has entered a period of rapid development. 12. BYD ASB DC energy storage system helps expand Japan's photovoltaic power stations

On April 4, at the lithium carbonate unit area of the battery-grade energy storage material project process construction general contracting project of Jiangxi Yifeng Times New Energy Materials Co., Ltd., two truck cranes with a capacity of 800 tons and 100 tons straightened and hoisted the last lithium sinking kettle in the lithium carbonate unit area, providing a large number of working surfaces for the subsequent on-site installation of pipelines, marking that the lithium carbonate unit area of the Yifeng Times process general contracting project has officially entered the sprint stage.

14. Hubei Engineering Company's Zanhuang 100MW wind farm project supporting energy storage power station was successfully connected to the grid

Recently, the supporting energy storage power station (100,000 kW/200,000 kWh) of the 100 MW wind farm project in Zanhuang, Hebei, undertaken by Hubei Engineering Company, was successfully connected to the grid and started, achieving the overall goal of starting construction, putting into production and achieving results in the same year. The energy storage power station uses electrochemical batteries as energy storage elements, which can store, convert and release electrical energy.

1. 200MW/400MWh! Green Investment Group and Shell Energy plan to deploy battery energy storage projects in Melbourne

According to foreign media reports, Green Investment Group (GIG) and Shell Energy recently announced plans to deploy a 200MW/400MWh battery energy storage project in Victoria, Australia. Green Investment Group (GIG) is a subsidiary of Macquarie Asset Management, and Shell Energy is the integrated energy services subsidiary of fossil fuel giant Shell. The two companies plan to jointly deploy this battery energy storage project in the Rangebank Business Park in Cranbourne, southeast of Melbourne.

2. The Australian government provides A$120 million for the deployment of community battery energy storage projects

According to foreign media reports, Australia has recently launched a round of AUD 120 million (USD 81.34 million) of government financing for the deployment of community battery energy storage projects. The energy storage projects are distributed in 32 locations across the Philippines, with a total capacity of 1GW/GWH. 4. Canada plans to launch a tax credit program that includes energy storage systems

5. Italy's Enel X and Magaldi Group begin deploying a 13MWh thermal energy storage project

According to foreign media reports, Italian energy developer Enel X and its partner Magaldi Group have begun deploying a 13MWh thermal energy storage system in Salerno, Italy. The name of this energy storage system is Magaldi Green Thermal Energy Storage (MGTES), which was developed by the ultra-high temperature material processing company Magaldi Group. It uses fluidized sand beds to store heat and then release it in the form of steam at temperatures between 120°C and 400°C.
