Gowin GW1N development board logic analyzer speed test [Copy link]

 

I have bought two Gaoyun FPGA development boards from Sipeed before. The onboard emulator is implemented with a domestic MCU. Because the microcontroller only supports USB-FS, the logic analyzer is slow to collect data in actual use. Although the official board uses the FT232H chip that supports USB-HS as an emulator, it doesn’t feel very fast in actual use. So I tested it on the official board by using an oscilloscope to directly measure the frequency of the TCK pin.

The original development board used a "capped" jumper, which needs to be replaced with a normal "leaky" jumper.

The logic analyzer uses Auto, continuous trigger mode.

The measurement rate using an oscilloscope is about 2MHz.

I thought it might be a problem with the clock rate setting, but I couldn't find the relevant setting in the logic analyzer interface or the manual. Fortunately, the frequency can be set to a maximum of 30MH in the Programmer.

After setting it to 30MHz, the program can be downloaded very quickly, and the TCK frequency measured with an oscilloscope also reaches 30MHz.

Unfortunately, the settings in the Programmer do not affect the clock rate of the logic analyzer. Even after saving, it is only limited to the Programmer window that is open this time. After closing and reopening it, the rate will return to the default 2MHz.

Because the IDE I use is 1.9.8.01, there is a new version released last time, but I need to re-apply for a license. I was struggling for a long time and was ready to try. I opened the official website and found that the website was inaccessible. I pinged its domain name and Baidu to confirm that it was not a problem with my network. It was probably that the official website was under maintenance. There was no way to test it here. I hope that the new version can solve the problem that the logic analyzer clock rate cannot be adjusted.

I also encountered the pin assignment loss phenomenon you mentioned in your previous post. At that time, I thought it was a mistake. I usually back up the files, so I didn't care about it.
