Will low power consumption of small UWB modules be an inevitable development in the future? [Copy link]

In a recent Qorvo news article , Toshifumi Oida, senior director of Murata's communication module division, and Paul Costigan, senior president of Qorvo's UWB IoT solutions, both predicted the future development trend of small UWB modules. Let's take a closer look at what they said.

“The UWB market is expected to grow by approximately 30% in the next few years, driven by the booming sectors such as smartphones, IoT and smart cities,” said Toshifumi Oida, Senior Director of Murata’s Communication Module Division. “Our highly reliable, ultra-compact Type 2AB module with excellent EMI performance is a great solution for product developers who want to apply our groundbreaking high-density surface-mount technology based on RF design to this market.”

"Qorvo is leveraging our ultra-wideband expertise to enable high-performance solutions," said Paul Costigan, senior president of Qorvo UWB IoT Solutions. "We can deliver breakthrough technology and manufacturing scale for integrated modules, like this one from Murata, a world-leading electronic component manufacturer, to accelerate the deployment of UWB and unleash a new wave of innovation. Companies will be able to easily add enhanced location and proximity sensing capabilities to drive business optimization, improve workflow efficiency and increase security in applications such as smartphones, automotive, consumer and industrial IoT."

Murata has reportedly introduced a small ultra-wideband technology (UWB) module using Qorvo ICs, measuring only 10.5 mm x 8.3 mm x 1.44 mm. The module features high accuracy, high reliability and low power consumption, ensuring that compact battery-driven IoT devices operate as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. The Type 2AB UWB + Bluetooth low-energy (BLE) connectivity module uses short-range radio frequency (RF) technology and can be used in a variety of applications where accurate detection must be achieved, including ensuring social distance in the workplace to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

Let’s all share our opinions.
