Studying the road to electric motor drive [Copy link]

This post was last edited by MianQi on 2021-6-4 20:09

I received a notice from the moderator that a forum user wanted to learn some knowledge about motor control, but the existing information could not meet the requirements. I learned about the situation of the learners and found that they were in the following situation: they had some basic knowledge of circuits and some programming experience, but they were not deeply involved in the motor drive software. They could not understand the algorithm code directly, but they urgently needed these skills in their work.

In this case, my suggestion is: since you have some basic knowledge of both hardware and software, you might as well start with both hardware and software, and start with a project example that you can do at hand.

What kind of engineering example is this? Take a look at the following DC brush motor:

How to make progress?

Answer: People who are capable should first make such a motor on their desk or in front of their laptop. What does it mean to make it? It can rotate when you press the switch. If it cannot start by itself, you can flick it with your finger or blow it. As long as it can rotate continuously, it is considered a success. Now you have a motor and its basic drive circuit. Next, upgrade the drive circuit of this motor to a BJT open drain circuit. At this time, introduce the MCU to achieve speed change through voltage regulation. Next, upgrade the open drain drive to a push-pull output to achieve forward and reverse rotation.

Anyone interested in giving it a try can post a comment.

I only know hardware, and I am a complete novice in software. I am still learning motor control theory. Thanks for sharing!  Details Published on 2023-9-18 14:10

The purpose of this experiment is to have a perceptual understanding of the mechanical torque generated by electromagnetic inductance, which is the basis for writing driver programs for motors or understanding driver programs written by others.
