[Perf-V Review] + First Look at Pengfeng Artix 7 FPGA Development Kit [Copy link]

The long-awaited Pengfeng Artix 7 FPGA development kit was quickly delivered by the courier. After opening the simple packaging box, the four components of the development kit were revealed, as shown in Figure 1.

There are also devices on the back of the development board, and a high-speed interface for external expansion is provided, as shown in Figure 2.

Figure 1 Development Kit

Figure 2 Back of the development board

The development board is powered by a regulated power supply, while the debugging tool is powered by a USB cable. But in fact, the power configuration on the development board is more complicated, and the voltage levels provided are:

5V power input, 3.3V output, 1.8V output, 1.5V output, 1.0V output and 0.75V output, which are rare in microcontrollers and ARM.

In addition, to ensure the effectiveness of the circuit, the power supply of Artix-7FPGA has a power-on sequence, and the power-on sequence is 1.0V->1.8V->1.5V, 3.3V.

Driven by curiosity, I really wanted to see the time-lapse effect of the produced DEMO, but it did not seem as calm as the pre-installed program. Only the power indicator light was lit, and the effect was as shown in the picture.

Figure 3 Power-on effect

As for the onboard resources, you can get a glimpse of them from Figure 4.

Figure 4 Development board structure diagram

In fact, there are three main reasons why I like this development board:

1. The peripheral resources are relatively rich, unlike some development boards that are only equipped with an LED light and two buttons. In addition, the configuration of the Arduino interface can be used and expanded in a targeted manner.

2. The development board is equipped with relatively rich resources and routines, which are easy to reference and learn.

3. We have ported multiple RISC-V architectures and soft core porting deployments, allowing users to develop at a higher level through soft cores for more efficient development. This will make it easier to expand and enrich peripheral functions.

The next task is to quickly build the development environment and experience the joy brought by routine and functional verification as soon as possible!

Mr. Guanguan, I also want to apply successfully... The requirements for localization are quite high recently. Can you organize an event for a domestic FPGA, such as the FPGA of Unigroup Tongchuang? I am looking forward to it.   Details Published on 2021-1-18 23:26

There are no new evaluation activities before the New Year. I will try to contact you after the New Year to try it out for you. Do you know any good domestic FPGAs that you want to evaluate? You can also recommend them to me, and I will help you find the other party to communicate.  Details Published on 2021-3-7 09:56

It seems that Unigroup Tongchuang cannot independently develop and produce FPGA chips?
