Millimeter wave radar is used in automobile collision avoidance system [Copy link]

With the development of economy and technology, highway traffic congestion and traffic accidents have become a serious problem worldwide. In order to ensure smooth transportation and traffic safety and reduce the occurrence of accidents, some developed countries have vigorously started to study the "Intelligent Highway System (ITS Program)" in recent years. The research and application of millimeter-wave radar for vehicle ranging and speed measurement and anti-collision warning in this system has received widespread attention.

Domestic and foreign related products and patent applications

Since the early 1980s, many famous universities and research institutions in the world and 300 to 400 companies in the United States (including computer companies such as IBM) have been involved in the millimeter wave craze.

Millimeter-wave multi-beam radar technology is now the research and development direction of many companies.

At present, the radar products used in automotive electronics in China are mainly ultrasonic and laser, and there are not many millimeter wave radar products.

A millimeter wave automotive radar system jointly developed by the School of Computer and Information Engineering of Guangxi University and the Department of Telecommunications of Huazhong University of Science and Technology adopts the linear frequency modulation continuous wave (LFM-CW) radar system. The transmission frequency is modulated according to the periodic triangle wave. The front end mainly includes the transceiver antenna, directional coupler, mixer, and frequency modulation oscillator. The control unit is implemented by a single-chip system, and the integrated transceiver front end and miniaturized Fresnel antenna composed of NRD waveguide are used. The millimeter wave radar system developed by the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has the characteristics of light weight, small size and all-weather. The operating frequency is 35GHz, the distance range is >100m, the speed range is >100km/h, and it uses advanced DSP technology. Jiangsu Saibo Electronics Co., Ltd. cooperates with colleges and universities to successfully develop a car radar anti-collision system using 38G millimeter wave technology and high-speed DSP digital signal processor. Monitor the stationary and moving vehicles on the forward lane, provide the distance and closing speed data of 20 targets to judge potential collision danger targets, with a false alarm rate of 1‰ and a minimum of 1 meter.
