PD-LD Inc. offers a variety of
standard Vertica l Ca vity Surface
Emitting Lase rs (VCSELs) in read y to
use fiber coupled packages. Packaging
options include Rec eptacle st yle
housings su ch as ST, F C an d SC as
well as
fiber pigt ailed co -axial
assemblies. VCSELs are typically used
with m ulti-mode o ptical fiber an d may
be specified for cou pling to 50 u m ,
62.5 um or 100 um co re op tical f ibers.
VCSELs m ay als o b e f iber co upled to
single mode fibers w ith 5, 7 or 9 um
core dia meters. Un its built with fiber
pigtails are a vailable te rminated w ith
optical co nnectors. Sp ecialty f iber
sizes may be available upon request.
VCSEL devices operating at
850 nm may be sp ecified with o r
without internal m onitor detect ors for
stabilizing t he opti cal po wer output
using fe edback. VCSELs have
inherently na rrow o ptical spe ctrums of
0.5 nm FWHM. Maximum rise a nd fall
times of 0 .3 nsec m ake them id eal f or
high speed modulation , but the devices
may also be operated in CW mode .
