(for single or three-chip applications, respectively)
Designed to work with long-range zoom lenses
used in video camcorders
Auto black-level calibration
Low power consumption
Compact Form, Competitive Design,
and Cost Gains for Consumers
The small footprint of the MT9M002 is ideal for light-
weight, compact video camera designs, whether
tape, hard disk, or Flash memory based. The sensor’s
small optical format enables a smaller and lower-
cost lens design, making it, yet again, a sensor that
meets consumer demand on portability and price.
Powerful Features for Better
Output and a Better Experience
The MT9M002 is designed to work with the
long-range zoom lenses (10x to 30x) typically used
in digital camcorders. The sensor has approximately
50 percent additional active pixel boundary area
to support image stabilization—eliminating the
effects of jittery or shaky hands. This feature is
critical for digital video capture, since long zoom
lenses can make it extremely difficult to hold the
camera steady without a tripod.
The MT9M002 is available in color (Bayer pattern) or
monochrome versions. The color sensor is ideal for
mainstream HD camcorders; it offers output suitable
for display on HD televisions at a very affordable
price. The monochrome version is designed for
three-chip CMOS video camera applications. It
produces excellent-quality HD video with resolution
crisp enough for display on large-screen and
projection televisions.
Applications
Digital video camcorders
Solid state (Flash) pocket video cameras
Breakthrough Performance for
the Consumer HD Market
Micron leveraged their extensive high-resolution, high-
speed technology experience to create the MT9M002,
a CMOS sensor that brings stunning high definition
(HD) video to consumer digital video cameras.
The MT9M002 uses Micron’s industry-leading
DigitalClarity pixel technology to create unmatched
picture quality with excellent color, low noise, high
speed, and high resolution. The sensor’s very low
power consumption supports hours of uninterrupt-
ed video capture.
With pixels packed into an active array of 1472 x
1096, the MT9M002 is adept at high-quality image
stabilization, creating stunning video suitable for
playback on HD televisions, while capturing true
HD-resolution video (1280 x 720) at 60 progressive
frames per second.
MT9M002
This sensor also incorporates two different
interfaces—parallel and serial—allowing camera
system engineers to choose the interface that best
suits their design’s needs. The parallel interface is
compatible with existing digital signal processors
(DSPs). The serial interface adopts standard LVDS
signaling, so it works well with deserializers or
newer DSPs. The serial LVDS interface also provides
more flexibility in system and mechanical design.
