Do you know the industrial-grade inertial sensor unit? What are its uses? Xsens announced today that the MTi 600 series is officially available for mass production. The new series is small in size but achieves industrial-grade performance, and brings a breakthrough to the mid-range inertial motion sensor market at a more competitive price.
In addition, the new MTi 600 series development kit, which includes a plug-and-play template and sensor module, is now available for only €449. The development kit provides a comprehensive hardware environment for performance evaluation of MTi 600 series sensors, and comes with a free MT software suite, allowing users to fully experience the most popular design and integration tools for MTi series sensors. MTi 600 series development kits can be ordered from domestic agents.
Since Xsens launched new samples in April this year, developers have given feedback that in the past, some application designs were limited by old sensors, but now the MTi 600 series has achieved unexpectedly excellent performance. After completing production verification and quality assurance, Xsens has now provided mass-produced MTi 600 units, which can be assembled into land, sea and air systems/platforms, such as ROV/AUV/surface ships, autonomous ground vehicles (trucks/cars/excavators/AGV), Exoskeletons, UAVs/Drones/xCopters, measurement and (LIDAR-)calibration equipment and VSAT/antenna/gimbal units.
The MTi 600 inertial motion sensor series is housed in a 31.5mm x 28.0mm x 13.0mm IP51-rated housing and can handle roll and pitch angles with accuracy up to ±0.2°. With the assistance of GNSS, the heading measurement accuracy can reach ±1.0°. The sensor includes a CAN bus and provides an NMEA interface to facilitate integration into final products for the maritime and air markets.
The excellent performance of the new module relies on Xsens' extensive innovative ideas for fusion algorithms to optimize the performance of the new accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer components. The performance-optimized MTi 610 IMU, part of the MTi 600 series, is available in volume at a price of less than 300 euros.
The MTi 600 series includes four integration levels:
·MTi-610 IMU provides fully calibrated sensor data output
·MTi-620 VRU handles roll and pitch angles with accuracy up to ±0.2°
·MTi-630 AHRS can handle roll and pitch angles with an accuracy of up to ±0.2° and heading measurement accuracy with an accuracy of ±1.5°
·MTi-670 GNSS/INS compatible GNSS receiver, with roll and pitch angle accuracy up to ±0.2°, heading measurement accuracy up to ±1.0°, and global positioning data provided by an external GNSS receiver
MTi 600 series modules have key advantages that are familiar to Xsens module users:
·A variety of standard interface solutions are available, now supporting CAN bus with RS-232 and UART interfaces for the first time
·The most comprehensive free MT software suite, which can be easily integrated into the host system through this software development kit. It also includes an XDA open source application programming interface, suitable for any hardware development platform
·All product equipment is fully tested and calibrated before shipment
· Global technical support provided by professional application engineers around the clock
As for navigation application users, users can choose any specifications of GNSS receiver chips, modules or systems to use with MTi-670. The MTi-670 GNSS/INS device provides global positioning information to complement the pitch, roll and heading outputs of other MTi 600 Series products.
Meindert Zeeuw, Business Manager of Inertial Sensor Modules at The spirit of achieving the highest standards of stability is also reflected in the MTi 600 product unit, and engineers can now put their designs into production with confidence." The above is Xsens' new MTi 600 series industrial-grade inertial sensor unit, which has begun official mass production.
