As shown in the figure, it is a 16-level priority encoding circuit composed of an 8-bit priority encoder CD4532 and a four-2 input OR gate CD4071. This circuit is mainly used in digital systems.

In the circuit diagram, two pieces of CD4532 and an OR gate CD4071 are combined to form a 16-level encoder. IC1 serves as the high-order encoder, and IC2 serves as the low-order encoder. The allowable output terminal EO of the high-order encoder is connected to the allowable input terminal EI of the low-order encoder.
When there is a signal input at any input terminal of IC1, its EO output is low level, and the El terminal input of IC2 is also low level. At this time, IC2 does not work and starts encoding the input signal of the high-order encoder. When there is no signal input to any input terminal of IC1, its EO output is high level, and the El terminal input of IC2 is also high level. At this time, IC2 works normally and can be encoded.
