PW166B/PW164 series image processing controller. It is a highly integrated "system built-in chip" that can transmit existing analog, digital, and video input signals in various formats to digital projection systems or multimedia display systems.
The PW166B/PW164's built-in SDRAM frame buffer and storage controller jointly realize frame rate conversion. Most refresh rate computer images converted from VGA to UXGA can be resized to fit a fixed frequency terminal display device.
The chip has an advanced second-generation image scaling function, providing fully programmable horizontal and vertical image scaling functions. In addition, it also supports non-linear scaling function, which can accurately control the 16:9 image source and its display. Its high-quality zoom function works with automatic image optimization circuitry to provide a clear, full-screen display that can be centered without manual adjustments. At the same time, PW166B/PW164 has advanced second-generation synchronization decoding technology and fully supports various synchronization methods. These include interlaced, progressive, sync on green and TMDS data enable.
PW166B image processing supports NTSC or PAL video data, including 4:3 picture and 16:9 picture data sources, such as DVD or HDTV. It uses an integrated PLL circuit to synchronize display interface timing with input timing. Only one external crystal oscillator can provide all the clock signals required by the system to achieve the above functions.
PW166B provides pulse width modulation (PWM) output function, making the circuit design of backlight or audio control very simple and low cost. Since reference source code is provided for the built-in microprocessor, developers can develop multifunctional products in a short time. Programmable features include: user interface, user startup screen, fully automatic image functions and special screen effects. At the same time, PW166B is packaged in a 256-pin PBGA.
