Remote control fan speed regulator

Using this circuit, you can easily change the speed of the fan while sitting on the sofa or bed. The circuit uses TSOP1738 infrared receiver module to receive the infrared signal sent by the remote control.

The circuit is powered by a stable 9V power supply. The 220V AC power supply is stepped down by transformer X1, then full-wave rectified by D1 and D2, and stabilized to 9V by the voltage regulator chip 7809.    

Any button on the remote control can be used to control the fan speed. The pulse output by the infrared receiver module is used as the trigger signal of the timer chip NE555 (IC1) after passing through R4 and LED1. IC1 is connected in monostable working mode to provide a delay for the clock signal of the decade counter chip CD4017 (IC2).

Of the 10 outputs (Q0-Q9) of IC2, only 5 (Q0-Q4) are used to control the fan speed. The Q5 output is not used, and the Q6 output is used to reset IC2.

Another NE555 timer (IC3) is also connected to form a monostable circuit, using R5~R9 and C5 to control the pulse width. : The output of IC2 is added to R5~R9. If Q0 is high, C5 is charged through R5; similarly, if Q1 is high, C5 is charged through R6...

Optocoupler MCT2E (IC5) is connected as a zero-crossing detector, which provides a trigger pulse for the monostable circuit IC3 at the zero-crossing moment; Optocoupler MOC3021 (IC4) drives the bidirectional thyristor BT136; R13 and C7 are used as a buffer network for the thyristor. Because the pulse width is reduced, the trigger angle of the thyristor increases, and the fan speed also increases. Therefore, pressing any button on the remote control will increase the fan speed.
