What is the difference between RFID RC522 and PN532? [Copy link]

RFID RC522 and PN532 differences To put it simply, the protocol types supported by PN are more than those of RC series. PN supports NFC protocol, while RC mainly supports ISO14443A/B. RC522 is a high-frequency RF chip from NXP that supports ISO14443A protocol, while PN532 is a RF chip that supports NFC function, also from NXP. RC522 Features ◆Highly integrated modulation and demodulation circuit; ◆The output driver stage can be connected to the antenna with a small number of external components; ◆Support ISO/IEC 14443 TypeA and MIFARE communication protocols; ◆The communication distance with ISO 14443A/MIFARE in reader/writer mode is up to 50mm, depending on the length and tuning of the antenna. ◆Supports communication at higher transmission rates of ISO 14443 212kbit/s and 424kbit/s. ◆Supports MIFARE Classic encryption; ◆Supported host interfaces: -10Mbit/s SPI interface -I2C interface, the fast mode rate is 400kbit/s, the high speed mode rate is 3400kbit/s -Serial UART, the transmission rate is up to 1228.8kbit/s, the frame depends on the RS232 interface, the voltage level depends on the provided pin voltage ◆64 bytes of send and receive FIFO buffer; ◆Flexible interrupt mode; ◆Programmable timer. ◆It has three power saving modes: hardware power down, software power down and transmitter power down. The first two modes are similar to MFRC500 and CL RC400. Its unique "transmitter power down" can turn off the internal antenna driver, that is, turn off the RF field; ◆Built-in temperature sensor to automatically stop RF transmission when the chip temperature is too high; ◆Adopt multiple independent power supply groups to avoid mutual interference between modules and improve work stability; ◆It has CRC and parity check functions. The 16-bit CRC calculation polynomial of the CRC coprocessor is fixed as: x16+x12+x5+1, which complies with ISO/1EC14443 and CCTITT protocols; ◆Internal oscillator, connected to a 27.12MHz crystal; ◆2.5~3.3V Low voltage and low power consumption design; ◆ Operating temperature range -30~+85℃; ◆ Ultra-small size of 5mm×5mm×0.85mm. RC522 Applications RC522 is suitable for various contactless communication applications based on ISO/IEC 14443A standard and requiring low cost, small size, high performance and single power supply. ▲Three meters; ▲On-board unit; ▲Public transportation terminal; ▲Portable handheld device; ▲Contactless public telephone. PN532 working mode ●Reader mode, support ISO/IEC14443A/MIFARE mechanism ●Reader mode, support FeliCa mechanism ●Reader mode, support ISO/IEC14443B mechanism ●Card operation mode, support ISO14443A/MIFARE mechanism ●Card operation mode, FeliCa mechanism ●ISO/IEC18092, ECM340 point-to-point PN532 features ●80C51 microcontroller core with 40kB ROM and 1kB RAM ●Highly integrated analog circuits to demodulate and decode responses ●Output buffer driver connects to antenna with minimal external passive components ●Integrated RF field detector ●Integrated data pattern detector ●Supports ISO/IEC14443A/MIFARE ●Supports ISO/IEC14443B only in reader/writer mode ●Typical operating distance in reader/writer mode exceeds 50mm, depending on antenna size, tuning and power supply ●Up to 50mm operating distance in NFCIP-1 mode, depending on antenna size, tuning and power supply ●In card operation mode, the typical working distance is about 100mm, and the specific distance is determined by the antenna size, tuning and external field strength ●In reader/writer mode, it supports MifareClassic encryption and can support two higher data transmission rates of 212kbit/s and 424kbit/s ●In FeliCa mode, it supports communication baud rates of 106kbit/s, 212kbit/s and 424kbit/s ●Integrated NFCIP-1 RF interface with a transmission rate of up to 424kbit/s ●Support host interface: -SPI interface -I2C interface -Serial UART ●Flexible interrupt mode ●Low power mode-hardware power-down mode-software power-down mode ●Automatically wake up through I2C, HSU and SPI interfaces when the device is in power-down mode ●Programmable timer ●Quartz crystal oscillator ●2.7V~5.5V power supply Conditions for waking up PN532 The following 3 conditions must be met to wake up the chip 1) Pull the PVDD pin high 2) Send address 48h in I2C mode, pull NSS low in SPI mode, and the actual data header in serial port mode must be 0x55, 0x55, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0xFF, 0x03, 0xFD, 0xD4, 0x14, 0x01, 0x17, 0x00 3) The host must send command 140200 (virtual mode) or 1401 (normal mode)
