Yes, fungus gets big after soaking, and there are mushrooms and white fungus. There is also Gongcai, if you soak too much, you can't finish it in one meal.

The concept of "preparing for the New Year" is a bit outdated to me. I think it was in the 1970s before the reform and opening up. At that time, people had to prepare for the New Year at least one month in advance before the New Year because there were too few materials in those days. In the 1990s, my New Year's goods were firecrackers.

It is really hard to find New Year's goods nowadays if you want to find something that you don't usually eat. In recent years, I have been buying some specialties from other places online. After trying them all, I still think that the things from my hometown are the best.

There is really nothing to buy for the Spring Festival every year. It is all the same old stuff that you can eat at other times. The biggest difference between the Spring Festival and other times is that the huge cleaning during the Spring Festival is really tiring.
