[nF7002-DK Wi-Fi 6 Development Kit] Unboxing and First Experience [Copy link]

Thanks to EEWorld for providing me with the nRF7002-DK and giving me this opportunity to evaluate it. I was quite excited when I received the development board. I will cherish this opportunity and make good use of it. I will combine learning with practice, proceed step by step, and do a good evaluation. Without further ado, let's start to learn about this development board.
1. Understanding of the chip solution

The nRF7002-DK main control nRF5340 is a wireless system-on-chip (SoC) with two Arm Cortex-M33 processors. The application core is 1MB Flash + 512KB RAM, and the network core is 256KB Flash + 64KB RAM. It supports multiple wireless protocols such as BLE/BLE MESH/NFC, has ultra-high sensitivity radio and ultra-low power, and rich on-chip resources.
nRF7002 is a Wi-Fi 6 collaborative IC, which is used with the host device through the SPI/QSPI interface. It supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz dual-band, target wake-up time, Bluetooth WIFI coexistence, low power consumption and other features. With WIFI6, it supports all wireless protocols of Matter. The
nRF7002-DK development board built based on the above two chips and other external device peripherals has strong development potential and playability.

2. Unboxing to understand the development board

Figure 1: nRF7002-DK
Figure 2: Front of the development board and NFC antenna

Figure 3: Back of the development board

The development board is compact and exquisite, with a reasonable layout and rich resources and interface functions. At first glance, there are two nRF5340 chips on the board and I thought they were both used for communication. Later, I learned that one of them (u2) is a Nordic onboard Jlink, which makes it easier to debug and burn later. The overall look is very refreshing.

The Micro USB (J2) on the left side of the front is used as a power supply port and a debugging and burning port. The development board can also be powered by a lithium battery, and there is a power switch (SW8) on the board. nRF5340 (U1) is used as the main control, dual-core, and can run protocol stack user programs and WiFi network programming. nRF7002 (U8) is used as a WIFI6 collaborative IC, and both have onboard antennas. The development board has buttons, LED lights, NFC interface, reset button, toggle coding switch, external 8MB Flash (U15), etc., and can do a lot of test applications as a whole.

3. About development preparation

A long time ago, Nordic developed IDE mainly Keil/SeggerEmbededStudio, FreeRTOS system, etc. With the iterative upgrade and the convenience of centralized and orderly unified version management, the nRF Connect SDK code, tool chain, development environment and other family buckets are now provided in the form of tools. It is relatively friendly to developers. The official also provides relatively comprehensive information, which needs to be searched and used as needed. First, get familiar with the overall understanding of the initial exploration here, and then we will further explore the journey later.

Yes, I tried several times on my computer but couldn't get the SDK. I just got some clues to get the code. I think there are still some problems with the official tool, I will share some more later.  Details Published on 2023-10-28 13:50
