Please tell me if you know what this thing is called [Copy link]

 

It is a very thin piece, and its function is similar to that of a solar panel, but it receives infrared light and outputs voltage. Once the infrared light is blocked, the output voltage will become lower. Although the change is very slight, it can still be detected after amplification. I just don't know what it is called and I can't find it.

Some "solar" calculators are powered by silicon photovoltaic cells like this one, and also by a small button battery. The photovoltaic cells are used when there is light, and the internal chemical battery is used when there is no light.

"Is it a product from a long time ago? There has never been such a battery." How long is "a long time ago"? This thing has a history of at least 50 years, and in China it has been 40 years. The photo shows a silicon photocell. As maychang said above, it is used in many cheap calculators and is very cheap. As early as the mid-1980s, I bought photocells packaged as LEDs and infrared phototubes. They were black and more sensitive to infrared. They were like regular photocells with an infrared filter added to them, and they output voltage signals.
