I am honored to be shortlisted for the 2022 Digi-Key Innovation Design Competition. I would like to thank the organizers EEWORLD and Digi-Key for providing free development boards and the carefully built competition platform.
After receiving the shortlisted email, place an order for materials on the Digikey e-shop ( https://www.digikey.cn/ ) according to the email instructions.
I placed an order on 2022-6-17, received the shipping notice on 2022-6-28, and received the express on 2022-6-30. Since it was shipped from a foreign warehouse, it was generally quite fast.
Before receiving the shipping notice, I was worried that I would miss the reimbursement window. As a result, I was still on a business trip in Shanghai when the courier arrived, so I missed the opportunity to open the courier myself. The unpacking post as a reimbursement voucher needs to be completed within 1 week of receiving the goods, so I asked a colleague to help me complete the unpacking process, including product display and power-on.
The theme of my application is the balcony watering system. My favorite development board is ESP32-S2-KALUGA-1, which has wifi and a small screen. After the program design is completed, I can put it on the balcony to water the flowers automatically, remind them through the speaker, and report data through wifi. What's more, there is a small touchpad, which can also realize manual control of watering. The ESP32-S2-KALUGA-1 development board can be said to be an excellent carrier for simple IoT applications.
I originally planned to order all sensors from Digi-Key to enjoy the pleasure of one-stop shopping, but after searching around, I found that the unit price of sensors was relatively high, and my stingy habit kicked in. This price was several times more expensive than Taobao, and Taobao was obviously more attractive, so I replaced the sensor with a k210 development board and planned to take time to learn some knowledge points related to visual processing. I am so smart.
The following are photos of the materials:
- Courier Box
According to my colleagues, it is quite large. The box has signs of squeezing, but it is protected by foam board (bubble bag?) inside, and the module is also packed in anti-static bag, so the materials are intact.

- K210
Both modules are very exquisite, have independent storage boxes, and the power-on effect is also very good. I am very satisfied with them. I am looking forward to what kind of effect such a good module can produce.
But recently the chip is brought up, and I have a lot of things on hand. I will have time to start working on it later. I usually don't postpone it, hahahaha
