Can I work in technology for the rest of my life? [Copy link]

I often see all kinds of information about older people in the profession facing this crisis or that crisis, or being eliminated. In fact, in addition to making a living, technology is still a lot of fun. With the upgrading of domestic industrial industries, don’t we need to have experience, accumulation, and willingness to be a technician for life?

This depends on the skill level. People with good skills can receive re-employment notice after retirement.   Details Published on 2022-4-21 21:14

Is the moderator a technical person? Learning is indeed important, but it is only one of the factors.

After the age of 35, my physical and mental strength are obviously no longer as good as before. The domestic environment is also not friendly to older technicians, and only a few can work as technicians for their entire lives.

This is the general environment. In order to make a living, unless you have other financial support, most people will find another way out.

Yes, but if you keep working in technology, you have to keep learning, otherwise you will easily be eliminated. And if you want to work in technology for your whole life, you must become a big shot!

"Technology" is a very broad term. For example, a car mechanic, a surgeon, a chef, a pianist... all need skills.

I think the original poster just wants to talk about the "professional technicians" working in the workplace. So, is technology a means of making a living, or is it your own interest, or is it for something else? You need to think about these yourself. After work, play less with your mobile phone, surf the Internet less, watch less videos, and read more books (professional books are not counted). Some doubts may be solved by yourself.

Technology needs to be accumulated. If you just do some repetitive work that is not difficult, without continuous improvement (that is, just "living off your past", you are likely to fall behind. Engineers will naturally regress in some aspects as they age. In addition, young people are more competitive, so it is also important to see your own advantages clearly.

You can have different choices at different times in life. It is not an either-or question. If you have skills, you can not only be a technician, but also a manager or a teacher...

1. The family background is simple and ordinary;

2. Identify with values such as being well-behaved, honest, and trustworthy;

3. There is really no ability to change the current rules of survival;

4. The upper limit of the fund risk bearing capacity shall not exceed 100,000 yuan. The capacity is defined as: the loss does not affect the mentality, life and basic social relations, and the economic level before the loss is restored within six months;

5. The income from subordinate work can basically meet normal material and spiritual consumption;

6. There is no mental stress caused by factors other than income;

7. There is still work at hand that has not been done, and there are past jobs that you are not satisfied with;

8. Have not yet formed their own attitude, cognition and opinions on the current position, business and industry;

9. Do not provide any advice to juniors on work attitude, methods, standards, knowledge, etc.;

If you meet any 7 of the above, do not imply that you have experience.

If you meet any 5 of the above, don’t suggest that you don’t have to work hard;

If any three of the above are met, dry technology may be the only relatively balanced development path;

What should we do if we, who work in RF, get old before we even understand anything? We can learn as long as we live, but companies won't give us any chances.

Indeed, radio frequency is too difficult. Many undergraduates are unwilling to spend their time on such a difficult basic course as electromagnetic field. Those who really understand it should become more and more famous as they get older.  Details Published on 2022-4-19 22:26

The summary is very good. Can't the old, middle-aged and young people coexist in the industry? I once worked for a company, where there were people over 40, around 30, and around 25 who had just graduated. The old ones led the new ones. It was quite harmonious.

It really depends on personal interests.

Some people are not good at communication, so they can only work hard on technology and products, so that they can get a sense of accomplishment in their work.

On the contrary, some people are not used to repeating technology and products, and always want to switch. They may choose to jump out of product or technology and turn to sales and management.

Being a manager is more difficult, after all, there are not so many opportunities, and there are only a few in a company.

Why do you have to be a manager when you are old? You hide in a corner and don't care about trivial matters, just put out fires. Isn't it good to have a girl take care of tea? The effective hourly wage is over a thousand, which is better than being a lawyer.

If you are good at technology and have accumulated some resources, it is definitely more enjoyable than management.

1. At the policy level, the central government’s 10-year plan to double national income will see an average annual increase of 7.2%.

2. If you are unable to reduce your average daily workload to one or two hours after working hard for a year, it is either because you are not good enough or it is time to change your boss.

After learning, work is not simply about completing tasks, but about learning to perceive environmental trends and laws.

Being a technician requires constantly learning new knowledge and improving one's professional abilities, especially when one is young. If one does it too late, one will not have enough energy and will need to spend more time. But while doing technology, one still needs to accumulate some connections. Although wine is good, it is afraid of being in a remote alley.

To master the technology and keep learning are the basic elements. As you get older, your energy is indeed limited, but your learning goals will be clearer.

I feel that if you have a good theoretical foundation, you can do it for a lifetime. There are too few people like the big guys in RF (who should have a thorough understanding of RF) like the one above, and don’t engineering and technical talents become more powerful and more experienced as they get older, unlike the Internet

The formulas that come to mind and the accumulation of practical experience make them true experts. They are also rare in the industry and do not need to be invited by business owners everywhere. . . . . . . .  Details Published on 2022-4-19 22:47
